Noosa Surf Report for January 9th, 2026

We’ve got a continuation of an east swell running a little above one and a half metres, with a seven-second period. The intensity of this swell has increased slightly, as the fetch has now been running for over a day and stretches deep into the Pacific. Because of that, we’re expecting a touch more size and a bit more power in the surf compared to previous days.

Tides tomorrow see a low tide in the morning at around 5:45am, followed by a high tide just after 12:00pm. Winds are forecast to be easterly, sitting around 15 knots throughout the day.

The best places to surf will be on the outer Noosa points, particularly around the low tide. These points should handle the east swell well, with the added intensity helping the waves stand up nicely. Because the swell has a bit more power, it should still be rideable as the tide fills in, allowing for workable conditions through to close to high tide.

Around lunchtime and closer to the high tide, the best option will shift to the Noosa Main Beach rock wall stretch. This area should offer cleaner, more manageable waves as the tide peaks, making it a solid choice for surfers looking for easier access and more forgiving conditions.

Board choice will play an important role. For the outer Noosa points, the Laguna Bay Sleepwalker single fins will be an excellent option, offering good paddle power and smooth, drawn-out turns in the longer point waves. There’s also a chance to surf down through the National Park section, where conditions should suit similar board choices.

For beginners and anyone chasing a fun, relaxed surf, conditions will be great for the Summer Vibes foam boards. These will work well both on the Noosa points and up at the rock wall beach, making them a perfect option for surfboard hire through Foam and Resin.
