Noosa Surf Report for January 6th, 2026

Conditions

We’ll have a small waist-high swell out of the southeast for Noosa on Tuesday, January 6th. The swell is slightly bigger than the waves we saw on Monday, but it will remain on the smaller side overall. High tide is around 10:00am, with the low tide coming through after 4:30pm.

Winds are expected to be light and variable offshore early, creating the cleanest conditions of the day. As the morning progresses, winds will slowly build out of the east. After around 1:00pm, winds are expected to become reasonably strong, and there won’t be much protection available anywhere along the coast. How the surf performs will be very dependent on how strong those winds become.

The tide is most favourable from around 8:00am as it starts to push toward the high. With the swell staying small, the earlier you get in, the better the surface conditions are likely to be.

Best Places to Surf

The best waves are expected to be between Sunshine Beach and Coolum, particularly in the morning before the winds strengthen. These areas will have the most exposure to the southeast swell. The earlier you go, the glassier it will be. Once the easterly winds build after lunchtime, conditions will deteriorate quickly across most locations, with little shelter on offer.

Board Choice

With the swell remaining small, you’re going to need a board with plenty of volume to make the most of the conditions. At Foam and Resin, we suggest riding boards that help you maximise wave count, including the Laguna Bay Overdrive, Summer Vibes Foamies, and NSP Fun Boards. These options will give you the best chance of catching waves and enjoying what’s on offer.
